Summer Canoe Trips in Canada
|
|
Centuries before the white man set foot in North America,
the Native People inhabited the land. In each area, for each
type of terrain and climate, they evolved structures for living,
methods of hunting and food gathering, and means of travel which
blended with and respected the natural environment. The Precambrian
Shield, the bedrock of the Canadian North, provided a land
dominated by an infinite system of lakes and rivers. For travel,
the Indian developed the canoe, which remained the sole means of
summer transportation until well into this century. Wilderness Way
canoes trips are a part of this tradition, offing the participant
not only a physical experience, but also an opportunity for
personal growth.
